Here are two samples of "spiral gardens" the one with the red bricks, (the one on the right), is from the Upper Canada Collage - Learning Garden.

About Spiral Gardens:

This form of gardening is called "Perma-culture" it takes advantage of the spiral way that water flows - these are designed for the northern hemisphere. The plants at the top need less water, as the runoff continues down the spiral path, there is more water for the thirstier plants.

  • grow more plants in a smaller space
  • grow herbs according to their needs and in varying soil depths
  • raises many herbs to a level comfortable for those with disabilities to work with
