Playground history

Notes from a CELOS 2009 visit

There were a number of community meetings to design the new version of the park playground. Here is the blog of the "Friends of Margaret Fairley Park."

Recent playground spending:

First stage 2013:

(City estimate)
Design, 2011: $50,000
Building, 2013: $350,000
Total cost (City estimate): $400,000

Second stage, 2016:

CSL Group $504,250

Notes

The cost of this playground -- a playground which is actually rather simple in its contents with a very small slide, two short swings, a climbing structure and a sandbox -- can be explained by features like the wooden armchair from the Nature's Instruments Company, priced at $2109.

wooden couches

sandbox, no water

net climber

climber from U.K./German company

swing bridge from climber to rock

two little slides, and sticking-up things

two short-chain swings

two wooden easy chairs (see above) with plastic kitchen

massive wooden picnic table

original wading pool
