CN distributed a 1/2 page flyer on Osler last week- it indicated that they would be ripping up tracks over the weekend. This work was related to the expansion being carried out by GO, but was being done by CN, and would be limited to the weekend. Because the work was on federal land, they don't need city approval.

Hello, I received this e-mail address from Carly at Cheri DiNovo's office. I have only become aware of your group today and I am very pleased that you exist. My family lives on Hook Avenue and we have to this point understood that this obnoxious work needs to get done and have patiently put up with it. Now, we read in the Metro that they plan on working on evening and weekends! No way, we need to prevent this. We have the right to enjoy our homes with our families. I am sure many residents like myself have family functions planned and in general feel very imposed upon. We work hard all week and have the right to relax in our own homes on our time off. I personally refuse to let this situation rob me of my summer. I have been in contact with all levels of government to discuss my plans of organizing a protest Saturday morning. The people in Public Relations at the Go have been stonewalling me every time I try to get any information out of them with regards to when and how often.

My plan is to flyer the neighborhood tomorrow evening to ask residents to show up at the construction site upon the first sound of the pile driving. I am asking them to bring their families and show a physical presence that won't be ignored. I have contacted all three levels of government representation and I have support and possible physical representation for Saturday's protest. Further I will be contacting all media to inform them of the protest.

Before I share my plan with residence I am hoping to get word from Go as to when they plan on starting work on Saturday so that we can better organize, however when I contact them, they haven't any idea what I am talking about. Does your group currently have any action plan in light of the news report that they will be working evenings and weekends? Perhaps I could join you or get your support for Saturday? Sincerely,

A Weston voice here. I highly recommend that everyone try to be at the Lithuanian House this evening and voice your complaints there as well. The Clean Train Coalition and the Weston Community Coalition will be there with information as well regarding other aspects of the project. Weston will be subjected to the same issues as you are now and we are watching the situation carefully and will do anything we can to assist you. We plan on being there from 6pm onward.

By all means do your Saturday event but come to the open house this evening if you can. And any others that are still left.

Hi Amanda,

We were informed by GO at a past meeting that over the life of the project some week-end work will need to be done but we were assured that it would not include pile driving. The week-end work would normally relate to track work when the line would need to be shut down. The heaviest traffic is generally during the week so it would therefore cause the least amount of disruption to train and commuter traffic. So while last week-ends work was not unexpected it was given with very short notice and not to everyone apparently.

There will likely be an upcoming community meeting which you may want to attend. Initiation will be coming out by mail. There is a leaders group that has formed and is working to affect change in the construction. An update on that will be coming out in the next few weeks.

The go was to reduce decible levels by 50% by today. The Dinovo office measured levels today and found they have been reduced by only 10%. Sent on the TELUS Mobility network with BlackBerry

Bruce, I've checked the railPath website, and I see the construction happening on the overpasses, but I can't see if the path is going to be finished on June 20? And if so, is it the full "green" section on the map?

I'm eager to try it out, and I'm not in the loop. Also, what is the pedestrian bridge? Does it allow access from the east by bridging the train tracks? Thanks,

From: Bruce Gavin Ward

While the complete railPath project will definitely 'not' be completed by the 20th, most of the path is rideable now with caution, and being careful not to disturb the 'seeded areas'. Two of John Dixon's metal sculptures are in place, and much of the local road connection sideWalks are cast. Surprizingly there are also a slew of bike parking posts @ the GO Stn. (what's that about?) so do snoop; and by the 20th there will be more to see and enjoy.

The path @ the bridges is not finished or safe so be careful there, and the north part of the trail is blocked at Dupont by the rail construction, forming a dead end at present.

The pedestrian bridge is old but substantial and crosses from Wallace @ the Wallace Station Lofts over the tracks to Dundas - steps, no ramp.

Enjoy, and see you on 20 June @ 14hr00.
