Dear Mr. Silva,

I am writing because I am concerned about the Metrolinks’ plan to build three rail lines with four hundred and fourteen trains going past every twenty-four hours. One of the main problems is our friends live right next to the train tracks and they have a baby. How will she sleep at night? Also, what harmful gases and toxins will she be inhaling? Normally, I would be okay with the trains but not with diesel trains. The trains need to be electric. And they don’t even stop in every one of the communities they pass by. The trains need to provide transportation to the communities they pass through.

I would very much appreciate if you took my requests into consideration.

Sincerely,

D. W.

Dear Mr. Ruprecht,

I am a resident of the Davenport ward and I am writing to you today because of a deep concern I have regarding the safety of my area. At a community meeting, I recently discovered that the company Metrolinx is planning to build a transit rail along the Georgetown Corridor, spanning from Pierson Airport to downtown Toronto.

In theory, a transit option of this nature is a development in Toronto that I think is an excellent idea. It could be a wonderful option for residents of the communities in which it passes through and it could reduce pollution if fewer people used cabs to get into the city.

Unfortunately, the current plans for the rail do not service our communities in any these ways. Although the trains will be running through residential communities at a frequency of a train every 2 ½ minutes, none of these people will have access to the train’s services unless they go downtown. Furthermore, the trains will pollute the areas both sonically and environmentally because they will be above ground and will run on diesel. These issues can be solved, however. If the trains are put underground and run on electricity and actually provide frequent stops for the community to use, this initiative could have amazing potential.

As our provincial Davenport representative, I implore you to do everything in your power to halt this project until Metrolinx complies with out requests and concerns. We elected you in the hopes that you would work towards what is best for the community. If you are unable to do this, we will all reconsider our votes in the next election.

Yours sincerely,

A. W.
