Thank you for signing up to support the Clean Train Coalition! We know that you are as concerned as we are about the proposed plan. Working together we will make a difference and prove that Clean Transit is Possible!

This is a brief but important email to update you on our first Campaign Action.

What’s the Plan?

We are going to overwhelm Premier McGuinty, our MPPs and eight key Ministers with a flood of letters. The idea is to have as many people as possible send a letter to the Premier, their MPP, and a couple of these Ministers on Monday, May 4 so that they all arrive in a short 48 hour window. We’re going to prepare the letters this week so you just need to print, sign and post the letters. Stay tuned – you’ll hear from us later this week once the letters are online. (those who can’t post can fax or email) In brief, the letters will indicate our/your concerns about the project, convey our key messages, and confirm your support from the Clean Train Coalition. In the meanwhile, we’ll also prepare letters from the Clean Train Coalition asking for a meeting with the Ministers so we can present our alternate vision for improved transit infrastructure in the GTA.

We also have a press conference and a special event (stay tuned!) in the works, timed to coincide with the arrival of the letters. The idea is to create a Big Splash over a three-day period that won’t be ignored. We’ll then follow up with ongoing actions to keep us in the news.

What can I do?

Plan to send letters next week – and plan to do some outreach next weekend. But even better – commit to getting 10 other people to send letters too. We have 250 people on this list. If we each get 10 people, that’s 2,500 letters!!!. If some of us extend ourselves to get 30-40 people to act, we are going to easily get more than 5,000 letters sent!

What more can I do?

We really need to ensure as broad coverage as possible. If you have any capacity to organize a group to do outreach in your neighbourhood, or have any specific ideas for outreach, let us know by sending an email to outreach@cleantrain.ca. Consider also any community events happening next weekend where you reach out to a ton of people at once. Pre-print letters and get them in the hands of your concerned neighbours - help us cover the corridor and the city!

We really are going to make a difference! We have a ton of great people on board and we are making headway with politicians, media and the public. Keep connected to our plans and keep supporting the Coalition – now is the time for action!!!
