I have been in touch with Kathryn Hanford in regards to the damage that has incurred to various homes including my own. She insures me that no monetary claims have yet been made so far in regards to the issue. This information is false, as I personally know that a window recently exploded from a house near Westport Avenue in which the individuals were paid a sum of 1500 for compensation. I believe that claims that go through Kathryn Hanford are not on any official record so that Go Train has no tarnishes on its record when a lawsuit is waged against them. The number for the Manager of Claims should you have a problem is 416 869 3600 ext 5350. You will need to speak to Ann. DO NOT go through Kathryn Hanford. I am also beginning to research info for a class action lawsuit, which I will update on once things are further set in motion. Best of luck to us all.

Thank you for the information David, and please keep me posted on the class action suit front.

I will forward to you some information that was forwarded by a resident of Weston and a member of the coalition there that has been fighting the issues around the expansion for over 6 years. The background on the whole rail expansion issues is pretty interesting and after reading it begs the question, ‘why is Metrolinx happening at all?’

I am not sure how to proceed. My house is 110 years old, as are many of the houses around here. I have an exterior wall that is crumbling and cracking in places - the 110 year old stucco it is not surviving the 6 month earthquake!! Should I get a couple of quotes and then contact this person at Go Transit or do I go thorough my Insurance?

I am also suspecting that an underground water pipe has cracked because the water pressure has changed in my house.

Can anyone recommend a company to give an estimate. Is there a company that everyone is using?

Here's the name and phone number of a Heritage Architect up in Weston who may be able to point you in the right direction -- he was very helpful in solving a problem I had in my store which is in an old house built in the 1880's. His name is Carl Godfrey and he can be reached at 416-242-8812. Also, you could call home inspectors who specialize in heritage homes and get their opinion on what needs to be done. As well, both Cabbagetown and the Annex have Heritage Conservation Districts and in the course of doing the study, they gathered names of companies that special in older homes for repairs. You can find them by either going through their BIA's or by going to the City of Toronto website and doing a search on Heritage Conservation Districts -- the contact info may be there. I can see if I can locate if you don't find.
