For those of you who are canvassing your streets, here is the flyer(Black&White, colored ) in Portuguese. Please share with your neighbours! I believe this was done courtesy of E. M. (Thanks E.!)

The Weston Community Coalition has joined the Clean Train Coalition. The Clean Train Coalition is a collection of neighbourhood associations and groups from all along the rail corridor who have serious concerns about the Metrolinx project on the health and vitality of their community. This coalition is moving forward with some additional political action which we are asking that you participate in. We are asking that you go to their website ( www.cleantrain.ca ), and click on the ‘4th of May’ section. There you will find a collection of pre-written letters to the Premier, MPP’s, and various ministers. We ask that you download and print 4 of these letters, one for the Premier, one for your MPP, and one each for two Ministers of your choosing. Edit the letter if you wish, or merely sign it and mail it. We are asking that you mail these letters this weekend or Monday for maximum effect. If you don’t have a printer, pre-printed copies will be available at Squibbs, 1974 Weston Rd. If you prefer to use e-mail or fax, the info is on the website.

Hi Neighbours,

Thanks to all of you who have offered to help with the Clean Train Coalition’s May 4th Clean Letter Day Campaign.

If you’d like to join a group of us, come to the McCormick Centre at 10:30am-12:00pm this Saturday. We’ll try to catch some of the parents and other passers-by. If we have a good crowd of volunteers, we’ll split up and some of us will head to No Frills and spread out along Dundas. I’ll bring all the flyers and letters we need. Please bring a clipboard (or something hard to write on) and a pen.

If you’re not free at that time, please consider canvassing your neighbours. So far, people have told me that they are doing the following streets:

Florence/Sheridan/Bank/Gordon

St. Clarens

Brockton Ave

Obviously, there are plenty more streets to canvas! If you are planning to do your street, drop me a line so I can keep track of where everyone is going.

Commit to getting at least 3 neighbours to sign on.

Some instructions for canvassing: If you need photocopies, contact me. Otherwise, I suggest you print/photocopy a few copies of the flyer at www.cleantrain.ca , a few of the instruction sheet (attached) and as many letters to the Premier, Tony Ruprecht, and other ministers as you can distribute. Remember that you can ask neighbours with printers to print their own letters. Mail any letters you collect on May 4th or ask neighbours to mail their own letters. Detailed instructions are at http://www.cleantrain.ca

And don’t forget! Mail your own letters to the Premier and MPPs this Monday, May 4th. Let’s send as many letters en masse as possible! The more vocal and organized we are, the better!
