Dufferin Grove rec program income 2017

According to Income-by-day (IBD) document:

(through Freedom of Information request #2018-00256)

- summer café: $21,063.35
- winter snack bar: $17,321.61
- Friday Night Supper: $16,136.25
- skate lending: $12,825.90
- market snack bar: $23,562.42
- market bread: $20,647.40
- pizza day: $7,664.55
- campfires: $4,053.45

Total: $123,274.93

According to SAP (source)
  • drop-in skate: "ski equip rentals" $12,577.85, "cafeteria revenue" $279.05
  • general interest & clubs: "cafeteria revenue" $11,616.20, "sale of material" $98,009.90
  • program support: "sundry revenue" $3403.95 [campfires], "sale of materials" $665.00

Total: $126,551.95-- but it turns out there was a mistake in the original data entry: $3008 from Dec.22, 2016, was not entered until January 2017. When it's credited back to 2016, the real 2017 income number is $123,544 -- which is quite close to the IBD total.

Comparison of bread income, 2008 to 2017
Total yearly bread sales:

2008: $46,254.12
2009: strike, so totals are not comparable
2010: $42,835.06
2011: $34,949.67
2012: $34,782.72
2013: $31,805.28
2014: $30,122.75
2015: $29,382.29
2016: $20,731.50
2017: $20,647.40

*When the cost of materials and staff are added, this enterprise will most likely show very low income, or even a loss. Ten years ago it made money for other park programs, but much has changed -- including the fact that there is much better bread available in stores than ten years ago. Also, farmers' markets have become very common, and they all have bakers. Time for city staff to stop baking bread for the market?

Comparison of pizza day income, 2011 to 2017

2011: $5680.20
2012: $3090.18. First stage of central management: frequently short-staffed so pizza days often had to be cancelled.
2013: $9127.40
2014: $10,233.51
2015: $7075.80
2016: $7005.90
2017: $7664.55

  • after going down for a few years, the pizza day income seems stable. This would be a good program to keep, maybe.
