First board meeting of new board, June 28, 2020

First board meeting of the new smaller board, at 1 p.m. June 28, 2020, in Dufferin Grove Park.

In attendance:

Lily Weston, Jane Price, Mary Jane Young, and Jutta Mason. The meeting took place out of doors in Dufferin Grove Park with participants sitting six feet apart.

The purpose of the meeting was
1. elect a new president, treasurer and secretary
2. to approve the AGM minutes for 2019

The following positions were decided unanimously: 1. President: Lily Weston 2. Treasurer: Jane Price 3. Secretary: Mary Jane Young.

Jutta Mason presented the Canada Revenue Agency annual report (due June 30). After discussion and unanimous approval, Lily Weston signed the report as president.

The board approved the new position of CELOS "program director" for Mayssan Shuja Uddin.

At 1.45, Jane Price moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Lily Weston, all in favour.

Current DG park issues for CELOS:
- washrooms
- the community gardens
- the encampment
- music, exercise and dance in the park
- our history with the police
- using the park oven on August 22
- beer gardens and the local economy
- update on the redesign of the NW corner to change it from a clubhouse to a daycare
- local covid data affecting the use of public space
- the recent cob and oven repairs

 

August 6, 2021, 4.30 p.m.: AGM for 2020, at CELOS headquarters and then at Dufferin Grove Park

Proper notice was given to the members, all of whom are directors.

Present: Lily Weston (president), Jane Price (treasurer), Mary Jane Young (secretary), Jutta Mason (administrator)

1. 2019 minutes and financial statement were briefly discussed. Motion to accept: Jane Price. Seconded: Lily Weston.

2. Elections: no board members resigned, the entire slate stands again. Motion to accept: Lily Weston. Seconded: Jane Price.

3. Financial report: Jutta presented the CRA report for 2020. The bank balance on December 31 2020 was $152.09

4. General discussion and walk through Dufferin Grove Park: overview of the limitations of the pandemic year. Discussion about the City pf Toronto LoveTO grant for free public space music concerts, and the reason for their postponement. Update on the indigenous encampment, other encampments, the progress of the reconstruction of the rink and its building, also the relocated community gardens, the prohibition against using the community outdoor ovens, the issues around the Dan's Table picnic area, and the maintenance of the cob kitchen. Much of this discussion took place onsite at Dufferin Grove Park.

5. Meeting adjourned at 5.50 p.m. Moved: Lily Weston. Second: Mary Jane Young.
