Dr.Richard Schabas was Ontario's chief medical officer of health from 1987 to 1997 and later became chief of staff at York Central Hospital (including during the SARS outbreak). He came to Hastings Prince Edward Public Health as Medical Officer of Health in 2005 and retired in 2016.
