Please confirm it is that should be contacted with regards to reportage of and compensation for the damages that have occurred to my home as a result of the GO construction underway across from my residence at 31 Hook Avenue?

I was given this email address by Susan Rogers at MPP office, to hook up with other residents and business owners in the area. I have been out of the loop and have been dealing with this situation on my own and with my insurance agency.

I have a lot of damage to my home which is also my place of business. I also was unable to conduct my business as usual during the past 3 months. I would like to meet with and correspond with others in the neighborhood that have the same experiences.
Yours truly

Dear Friends of Trinity Bellwoods,

We wanted inform as many people as possible about a major development proposed just south of the Park. The proposed development is the Metrolinx led expansion of the Georgetown rail corridor to provide additional GO and Airport rail service.

This expansion will significantly increase the number of trains travelling on this corridor and requires additional rail lines in the corridor. Strachan Avenue currently crosses this rail corridor at grade. As part of the proposal Metrolinx would like to replace the level crossing. Both Metrolinx and the City of Toronto have put forth alternative solutions and the current Metrolinx preferred solution is to build a bridge to carry Strachan Avenue over the rail corridor.

 The City opposes this and instead prefers that Strachan stay at grade with the rail corridor lowered below it. *Renderings of alternate solutions can be found on this site in the Image Gallery.

If you are not already familiar with the proposal and the preferred solution you can find more information at the following links;

The Metrolinx online consultation is accessible on this site http://www.metrolinx.com/gsse/default.aspx and you can review the official documentation and provide on-the-record feedback to them regarding this proposal.

 You can read the City Staff Report on this pdf http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2008/te/bgrd/backgroundfile-16917.pdf.

Your views and comments can also be sent directly to our Councillor, Joe Pantalone at councilor_pantalone@toronto.ca and the Chairman of the Board of Metrolinx, Rob MacIssac at rob.macissac@metrolinx.com.

While not directly impacting the park, changes to the rail corridor at this location certainly have the potential to introduce change to the Trinity Bellwoods community. As such, we thought it was important to provide you with the information to give you a chance to review, understand and participate in this process, should you so desire.

Construction is in the planning stages so immediate input is most useful.

Thank you, Friends of Trinity Bellwoods Park Steering Committee

Hello all, just wondering if there is any word on whether or not we are collectively planning to take legal action to be compensated for damages or we should proceed individually? The foundation of my house is definitely leaking; this news is from the Contractor currently working on the bathroom located in my basement.
